It has been really unfortunate occasion for the US sending ambassadors of the like McMullen and Shinn and of secretaries for African affairs as Susan Rice and Jendayi Frasier to deal with Eritrean case.
Fortunately wikileaks exposed their nature to the world though I am not sure the culprits bearing the caliber of Dr./Professor will feel the shame of their misguided efforts that whatever proposal they came up with to punish Eritre a had no foundation or truth.
When President Barack Obama was elected myself as well as many Eritreans as well as President Isaias Afeworki were hopeful that he will use his wisdom and African blood to settle the East African mess.
Regrettably he was clouded by the intricacies of doctors and professors supported by the Secretary of State's unhealthy outlook on peace in our continent and President Bush E2 80 99s C2 A0flimsy issue of 'war on terror'.
Though Brazil, India and China (the BRIC) seem to be evading it, we are entering the new year 2012 already shrouded with global economic crisis with world peace being C2 A0 nonexistent for, among others, the following reasons:

> the unresolved Arab-Israeli situation;
> the troubled Arab world;
> the unfinished war in Afghanistan and Pakistan;
> the rising tensions between Iran and the US And
> the tension between North and South Korea.

There seems to be no unity in the US led UN where a half-century old organization is guided by the 21st century confused world police, the USA. For Eritreans at home and us Eritrean nationals of our domicile nations life will continue as usual with the ever existing peace endowed with food sufficiency and enhanced economic growth at home, signs for which have already been displayed verbally and materially to the Eritrean people and the world at large.
This is a result of the steadfastness and resilience through the decades against all odds wars, drought, sanctions, sanctions and more sanctions. As the saying goes: the dogs keep barking but the camel maintains its pace.
