Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu has told the leader of the United Nations
Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) that he wants it to leave
the region.
Although Kosovo declared itself independent from Serbia one year ago, it
has remained under UN administration. The ethnic Albanian majority believes
the UN presence is an obstacle to international recognition.
Since the declaration, 58 of the world's 193 countries have recognised
Kosovo as an independent country
