Eritrea's ambassador: Iran not smuggling arms to Hamas in our territory

Eritrea's ambassador to Israel denied a Sunday Times report claiming
Iran is transferring weapons to Hamas within his country's territory,
Israel Radio reported on Thursday night.
Ambassador Tesfamariam Tekeste said the report by the British newspaper
was wrong, noting that Eritrea's coast guard is extremely efficient in
preventing weapons smuggling.
However, the smugglers may be transferring arms aboard vessels sailing
beyond Eritrea's waters in the Red Sea, Tekeste was quoted as saying.
The Eritrean ambassador reportedly stressed that the African nation's
ties with Iran were not as close as the media claims.
