As you all are aware by now, the amendment proposed by Congressman Ed Royce (R-CA-40), to designate Eritrea as a "State Sponsor of Terror" was rejected by the House of Representatives on June 11, 2009. Royce's amendment includes about 15 counts of aleged violation by Eritrea in Somalia as well 3 proposed punishment, including UN sanctions and urging the Secreary of State to enlist Eritrea in the "State Sponsors of Terror."
For your review, as well as to understand the magnitude of this Congressman's gross negligence of the subjest matter, I am attaching two PDF documents. The first one is Royce's so-called alegations agains Eritrea and Congressman Donald Pyane's excellent rebutal. The second document is the official press statement by the UN Secretary General Special Representative in Somaila, in which he confirmed that there was no evidence that Eritrea is supporting Somali insurgents.
