Well, well, well. In today's VoA news program, the Eritrean Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Ghirmay Ghebremariam, has quickly clarified the recent allegation by the US Assistance Secretary for African Affairs, Mr. Johnnie Carson, regarding and entry visa denial to Eritrea. On Wednesday, June 17, 2008 a VoA reporter revealed that Mr., Carson had alleged that the Eritrean Embassy in Washington, DC had returned his passport "without a visa in it." According to the reporter, Carson commented later, "If relations are not improved it will not be because we're not trying to act as a respected partner."
The Eritrean Ambassador, to his credit and, of course, understanding the seriousness of the subject matter, quickly went on the air to set the record straight so there won't be any lingering issues. In his response, Ambassador Ghirmay affirmed that Mr. Carson was never denied an entry visa to Eritrea, and whenever he is ready to visit Eritrea; his entry visa process would be facilitated "within 15 minutes." It is a none issue!!!!
So why is the New Sheriff in town crying foul when it appears that he is the one who is committing the fouls? Why do I have the feeling that the New Sheriff in town wants a bar-brawl to start so he can flash his emblem on his buckle belt?
Haile A.
PS: Couldn't the VoA staff edit out at the begining the wrong name they mentioned as the Eritrean Ambassador to the US?
