EMF (22 Feb. 09) Dozens of students are injured and arrested after
inter-ethnic conflict sparked at Bahir Dar University, 578 kilometres
from Addis Ababa, primarily between the Amhara and Tigrean ethnic
students, since Wednesday-18- Feb, EMF source said.
Many Amhara ethnic students have been thrown to jail and tension is
growing high until Sunday between Zenawi's federal police and university
students, according to our sources.
The TPLF cadres in the university are the source of the inter-ethnic
conflict by provoking the Amhara ethnic students. The students were
reportedly annoyed by Tigrigna speaking cadres who are installed in the
university to spy them that cause aggressive reactions. Schools are
unlikely to begin on Monday as Bahir Dar's Peda collage and Poly
University are still surrounded by Zenawi's soldiers.
The inter-ethnic conflicts and tensions are reportedly spreading over to
Mekele University.
