Serbia: It's accepted to pig out on pork here. Just say Nema polje vocke do svinje - "There is no better vegetable than pork."
Cambodia: Practically speaking, it's the U.S. dollar, especially in Phnom Penh and Angkor, but you'll get small change in riel (about 4,000 to a buck.)
Eritrea: Araki, a clear liquor made from aniseed (similar to Greece's ouzo). For non-imbibers, your cup o' bun - coffee grown in this region - is traditionally taken with a lot of sugar.
Bali, Indonesia: The 237-room W Retreat & Spa Bali-Seminyak opens Tuesday. Four days later, guests will need to hunker indoors for Nyepi ("Silent") Day, a Hindu observance. www.starwoodhotels.com.
New Orleans: Mardi Gras parades continue through Fat Tuesday, March 8, with a special reprise by the Mardi Gras Indians (an African American tradition) on March 20. www.mardigrasneworleans.com.
