Time and again, it has been said that “bezey tesatfo deKe’nstyo, sewra ayEweten’yu”. The validity of the saying has been designed, exercised and practiced to the fullest during the long and costly liberation struggle where Eritrean women have proven the saying by either paying the ultimate price, their youth and fertile ages and by sustaining variety of disabilities. Having waved the mentality of “what is in it for me”, they along with their brothers have brought about the fresh air of liberation that we all are breathing in free Eritrea. Eritrean women deserve all the respect there is in the Eritrean way of respecting; that is remembering that they are our sisters, mothers, wives and daughters.
The same saying still holds true in Free Eritrea and all we need to do is consult Eri-TV for its reports regarding nation building. Granted that Eritrean women are blessed of having a government whose policy regarding women is so clear and the practices of the policy are self- explanatory. Organizationally speaking, Eritrean women who are helping our Eritrean causes under National Union of Eritrean Women [NUEW] do need all the help they can get to make the organization go to the next level. It’s the responsibility of all to make NUEW organizationally sustainable in the Diaspora. Our communities cannot flourish without the active participation of the Eritrean Women.
