Hi guys,
I got a call about 10 days ago asking me if I can help in some way with the Eritrean hostages in Sinai, Egypt. They forwarded me a link where a lady by the name of Meron, affiliated with Asmarino, from Europe interviewed them over the phone. At first I was a bit skeptical since Asmarino and Co manufacture a lot of stories and fictions to package them as news. Surprisingly this one happens to be true.
Apparently their captors, Boudoin, give them several cell phones to call their relatives overseas to deposit money. In the interview they claim most of them were kidnapped from the border of Sudan and Eritrea near an area called Shegerab, Sudan. Some of them run away from Ethiopian camps and went to Sudan. They stated the camps in Ethiopia were horrible. Currently there are about 60 Eritreans in captivity. They have already killed 4 of them for organ harvest. They mainly harvest the kidneys to sell it. One committed suicide. The other one died of hunger. They stated they are kept underground with no lights and they are chained. They are beaten daily so they can keep bugging their family to send money urgently. Some area are already paralyzed. They give them one bread in the morning. The girls ranging in age from 15-20 years old are gang raped on a daily bases. They are also pimped to generate money.
The supposedly humanitarian people (Elsa Churm, Selam Kidane and Co) who in the first place put all these young people in danger are no where to be found. Meron interviewed them 1-2 times, thereafter instead of looking for a solution to help our brothers and sisters in danger, she used them to her political end. It was very disappointing.
Again I got a call yesterday asking me if I can speak with the captors since they are asking for someone who speaks Arabic. But we figured that person has to be someone who knows their culture and who can negotiate well with them.
The Asmarinos, the Merons, the Chrums, the Kidanes and Co, seem to use these tragedy to drive their political agenda home. I believe they should have used these tragic incident to unite all Eritreans, regardless of political view, to rescue our brothers and sisters. It was indeed very disappointing.
At this time I am asking for brain storming to figure out what we can do immediately to help them. They are begging us to return home to their family. I think here are what we need immediately:
1. We need someone who knows the captors' culture, speaks good Arabic and negotiates well.
2. Create awareness among the youth
3. Home sweet home. There is no place like home. Even the ones who arrive in America, Europe, Israel or other African countries know how we all are living here. We know life here is harsh and miserable. But, we all do not want to make our family back in Eritrea to feel bad, so we tell them life is very good (BIG LIE). We know very well out of ten, 1 or 2 might succeed. So please let us be honest with our people and family back home.
