“HI” IS NOT ENOUGH
If you meet a deaf
atrach, sordo
Down the road
Down the street
"Hi, holla, selam, shalom"
Is not enough
When you greet.......
Just stop by for a while
And smile
Will teach you few signs
Even more and more
Some of which you know.
Signs are so easy to see
So easy to learn
So easy to remember
So easy to imitate
So easy to create
So easy to manipulate
So easy to exaggerate.
Just stop by and by
Or don't pass by
For it is not enough
To say "hi"
What of that?
Just stop by once
Will teach you
How to sign
With flying hands
Plus ten feathers
The bony fingers
Of the twos
Flying high and low
No more "hi"
For ever more.
