CHICAGO (Reuters) - The U.S. Agriculture Department canceled a tender on
Monday to buy 18,400 tonnes of U.S. hard red winter wheat for donation to
Ethiopia.
USDA said the tender was canceled due to a change in program requirements,
but added that prospective bidders will have the opportunity to bid on any
resolicitation.
Offers had been due August 5.
The U.S. government is the largest provider of food aid in the world. USDA's
Commodity Credit Corp (CCC) bought more than 2.8 million tonnes of bulk and
processed commodities worth more than $1.3 billion in the fiscal year ended
September 30.
