>From PFC Tyler in Eritrea, January 1955 (Exploring My Reel-to-Reel Catacombs, Volume Eight) (MP3)
In late 1954, PFC Tyler C. received a taped letter from home, including comments from everyone in the family, a few things said by some new neighbors, and a recording of a What's My Line broadcast. A few months later, Tyler, stationed in Asmara, Eritrea (in North East Africa), sent an audio letter of his own back home, commenting on everyone's comments, thanking Grandma for the copies of the best comic strip ever, Pogo, describing his recent activities, including his hopes to go home soon (hopefully, and if that situation in Formosa is resolved), and his plans for travel and college. Decades later, the tape ended up in my collection. And now, almost 56 years after it was recorded, everyone here gets to hear it.
