Well today, December 23, 2009, will mark another infamous date in Eritrea's history, similar to the one this very same UN Security Council, without the wishes of the Eritrean people, robbed our freedom by invoking resolution 390(A) to federate Eritrea with Ethiopia in December 2, 1950.
Even though these two events are 60 years apart, the striking resemblance is too uncanny to ignore. Let's see; both events occurred in the month of December, both events were prompted to reward Ethiopia, both events were crafted and sponsored by the United States, and both events were meant to destroy Eritrea.
But as history repeats itself, Eritrea once again will rise up and continue to defy all odds of survival to be a beacon of hope to those who are suffering at the hand of the bullying injustice.
On the other side of the spectrum, there sure will be those who will open bottles of Champagne in celebration and also those who will even smash a bottle on the concrete in exuberance. But sooner or later, they will realize that what they are drinking from these bottles is the blood, the sweat and the tears of those whom they have and are continuing to exploit and oppress.
I will spare you the details, but just for the record let's mention this fact. The cash-starved and extremely corrupt Uganda is the bind architect of the sanction, and so in the classis example of the blind-leads-the blind, the folloing blind countries have also followed blindly into the darkness:
Austria, Japan, Burkina Faso, Viet Nam, Costa Rica, Mexico, Croatia, Turkey, Japan, and including the following permanent members; UK, Russia, France, USA have voted YES.
China abstained and Libya voted NO.
Eritrea will prevail.
