May 25, 2013: The Washington D.C. area Independence Day Picnic
Today thousands of Eritreans gathered at the historic Fort Hunt Park
located in Alexandria, Virginia, to take part in the Annual Eritrean
Independence Day Picnic. Starting 9:00 AM in the morning and going to the
late afternoon, despite windy and chilly weather, families turn up in great
numbers. Many camped out under shades of gigantic trees enjoying great food
and the opportunity to interact with fellow Eritreans. The Annual
Independence Day Picnic is one of the most anticipated Eritrean events in
the Washington DC area and has consistently drawn thousands of families
every year, this year was no different.
