Eritrea was one of the 38 invited countries that took part in the
commemoration of the 750 years old of the city of Wageningen located
in the middle Rhine region of The Netherlands.
This historic city of Wageningen otherwise known as the City of Life
Sciences due to its specialised plant and animal sciences
institutions of higher education , is precisely 750 years old this
month since it was accorded city right. Every year, the city also
hosts a number of cultural/social festivals and WWII related
commemorations including the Liberation Day of May 5 as the city was
the site of surrender of the German forces in 1945.
During all these celebrations and historical events, community
members of Netherlanders of Eritrean ancestry, proudly represented
Eritrea with its exotic cuisine and traditional clothes which was
most warmly well received.
