Lela Kiflom: New CD Release (Mimhal Kigedfo)
Eritrean entertainer Lela Kiflom has been in the spotlight of the Eritrean
music scene along side of the many new and upcoming artists that have
proven to be outstanding. She has shown her ability to capture an audience
through her crisp and smooth voice. In the past couple of years, she has
come out with many single songs and also performed as part of the cultural
troupe throughout the country on many occasions including those put
together by the National Holidays Organizing Committee.
To go back to her short biography and life story Lela was born in 1988 at
the height of the big battles that took place in the war for independence
to a martyred father and a mother who was a fierce freedom fighter in the
town of Ararib, Northern Red Sea region, Lela grew up liking music and went
to Asmara music school to study musical instruments. With the encouragement
of her beautiful mother Lela never gave up dreaming of becoming an
entertainer/singer. Lela’s career came to a halt after her mother passed
away in 2001. Taking care of her younger sister and struggling to make ends
meet, Lela was working odd jobs and helped to get her sister an education
and a better life. She took on the responsibility of being a great Eritrean
citizen that did not abandon the martyrdom of her parents. She is an
inspiration and a person who must get support from Eritreans and friends of
Eritreans. She exemplifies what Eritrea is proud of the fact that Eritreans
were and continue to be her guardians. Her perseverance in life has allowed
her to be on the spotlight through her musical journey. As most people are
already aware Lela can sing in three important Eritrean languages Tigrigna,
Arabic, and Tigre uniting the people of Eritrea closer to one another. An
amazing talent, Lela is now officially releasing her first album titled
“Mimhal Kigedfo” loosely translated “I will stop making promises”.
To support this aspiring and already successful child of the Eritrean
people there will be a CD Release celebration at the ECCC (Eritrean
Cultural and Civic Center) in Washington D.C. Come out and support Lela
Kiflom. Sponsored by several Eritrean businesses, individuals and Delina
