Festival Eritrea 2013, which attracts all Eritrean-Canadians from Eastern
Canada, was officially opened with patriotic zeal on August 3, 2013.
Present at the opening ceremony was the Head of Eritrea's Investment
Centre, Dr. Woldai Futur and heads of PFDJ and the National Union of
Eritrean Women. The opening ceremony was attended by thousands of
Eritrean-Canadians and was followed by a seminar on current affairs
conducted by Dr. Futur. Dr. Futur addressed questions pertaining to
Eritrea's economic and social development. The public expressed their
support of the development programs set by the government and pledged to
support the efforts of nation building. On August 4th, a concert was held
at the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto and attracted thousands of Eritreans who
came to see their favourite artists, Fihira, Bereket Mengisteab, Mihert
Zerihanes and their band! The festival concluded on August 5th at Picinnini
Park.
