National Festival 2013 was officially opened today in Dekemhare city in
the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, Ministers, regional
Administrators, Army Commanders, PFDJ Officials, heads of National
Associations, religious leaders and numerous participants. Speaking at the
opening ceremony, Mr. Efrem Gebrekristos, Administrator of the Southern
region, pointed out that the event which is being conducted in the region
is a good opportunity for regional and sub-zonal Administrations to depict
their development accomplishments and resources. He further noted its
importance in promoting national unity vis-à-vis national and cultural
values, besides the groundwork it provides for youths regarding creative
