The half-hour chat will take place from 6 to 6:30 p.m. To take part in the chat, go to www.dailyfreeman.com or join in on Twitter by using the #dfchatsmeb hashtag. Keflezighi is a three-time Olympian who captured the silver in the marathon in the 2004 Games in Athens, and placed fourth at the 2012 London Games. His Olympic medal was the first for an American men’s marathon runner since Frank Shorter took the silver in the 1976 Montreal Games. Keflezighi also made history in 2009 when he became the first American in 27 years to win the New York City Marathon. He was named an ambassador in February. Keflezighi will not be competing in the April 27 Classic, but he will be available for advice, book signing and photo opportunities at the pasta party scheduled for April 26 and on race day. Prior to his appearance at the Classic, Keflezighi is scheduled to run the Boston Marathon on April 21. The Classic expanded this year to not only feature the 32nd running of its 10-kilometer road race, but also a marathon, a half-marathon, a 5K, plus a Friends and Family Mile. The marathon race will serve as a qualifier for the 2015 Boston Marathon. Keflezighi, 38, was born in the East African nation of Eritrea in 1975 and emigrated to the United States with his family when he was 12 years old. He was an outstanding miler and two-mile runner as a high school student in San Diego and then attended UCLA. While at UCLA, he won four NCAA championships during the 1996-97 season in cross country, the 10,000 meters (outdoors) and 5,000 (indoors and outdoors).
