Extensive preparation underway to mark 40th anniversary of Bologna Festival
Asmara, 15 April 2014 – Reports indicated that extensive preparations are
being made to mark 40th anniversary of Bologna Festival which is due to be
conducted from 4 to 6 June in Bologna, Italy.
The coordinating committee of the 3-day event stated that it would witness
the staging of cultural shows, seminars and other activities.
It is to be recalled that the Festival was organized by nationals residing
abroad during the Eritrean armed struggle for independence with a view to
providing groundwork for discussion and thereby inspiring the Eritrean
people’s relations and collaboration with the EPLF.
Moreover, the historical event provided a forum for all citizen artists and
added to cultural renaissance, besides portraying the Eritrean people’s
ever-prevailing spirit of steadfastness.
Bologna Festival was unveiled for the first time in 1974 and continued as
the annual National Festival in Asmara after national independence.
