Norwegian registered bulk vessel Supramax M.V. Spar Gemini departed Massawa,
Eritrea with 34,264 MT Bisha Mine Copper Concentrates, according to company
sources.
This is the largest shipment to date being loaded on approximately 4 days
despatch, and 100% with locally trained crane operators from Eritrea.
The shipment belongs to Nevsun Resources Ltd., a Vancouver-based mining
company with an operating mine in Eritrea. Nevsun's 60%-owned Bisha Mine
commenced commercial copper concentrate production in December 2013 and
ranks according to the company as one of the highest grade open pit copper
mines in the world.
The shipment left Massawa exactly after 12 months of successful shipping
operations at the Bisha Mine. The first ever shipment of copper
concentrates from Eritrea was in October 2013. The mining company announced
yesterday that it will report its financial and operational results for Q3
on Thursday, October 30, 2014
