International Day of the Disabled commemorated here

December 2014 - International Day of the Disabled was today commemorated at
Expo grounds here in the capital with zeal. Present on the occasion were
Ministers, Government and PFDJ officials, as well as heads of National
Associations, Ambassadors and representatives of International
organizations.

indicated that the Government is exerting the necessary efforts on the basis
of substantial investment towards rehabilitating and improving the
livelihood of disabled citizens. He also stressed the need for active
participation on the part of general public as regards enabling disabled
becoming self-supporting.
The Minister further pointed out that there exist government programs
towards ensuring all-round rehabilitation of the Disabled and laying
conducive ground for production activities, among others.
Similarly, Ms. Rose K. Ssebantindira, representative of the UNDP, underlined
the significance of the Day in terms of highlighting the need to exert
multi-faceted endeavors on the part of all concerned parties pertaining to
improving the condition of disabled persons.
