Asmara, 30 December 2014 –Office of the Audit General of the State of Eritrea has received award from African Organizations of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) upon demonstrating best progress during 2014 Technical Update.
The official awarding ceremony was conducted from 12 to 14 November this year in Johannesburg city, and the awarding ceremony was conducted yesterday at Asmara Palace Hotel here in the capital in which Ministers, Senior PFDJ officials and Ambassadors, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and invited guests took part.
Speaking on the occasion of the ceremony of the handing over of the “Trophy of Victory”, Mr. Berhane Habtemariam, Minister of Finance, noted its positive impact in reinforcing national endeavors, as well as at international level.
The Minister also pointed out that the award attests to the efforts made towards ensuring competence and quality, and congratulated staff members of the Office of Auditor General.
Likewise, Mr. Gerezgiher Gebremedhin, Auditor General of the State of Eritrea, explained that AFROSAI-E groups 26 English-speaking African States, and that Eritrea is the first country to receive the award in the history of the organization for demonstrating exemplary competence in regularity audit and quality assurance, among others.
Mr. Mengis Dagnew, Director General of Audit, stated that the award is a source of special pride to the Office of Auditor General, and the Eritrean people and their leadership in general.
