Swiss-Eritrean aid organization’s field trip to Eritrea in 2014
January 2, 2015
The Swiss Support Committee for Eritrea (SUKE) was founded in October 1977 in Bern, Switzerland. The aid organization was established during the war of independence after a Swiss delegation visited the liberated areas of Eritrea.
Impressed by the spirit of the Eritrean people’s resistance, the visiting group recognized the need for humanitarian assistance and founded SUKE.
During Eritrea’s 30 years of liberation struggle the organization provided primarily humanitarian aid to civilians affected by hunger and war. SUKE also raised awareness about Eritrea’s struggle of independence in Switzerland.
Since the independence of Eritrea in 1993 SUKE supports private, semi-governmental and governmental development projects.
