Eritrea

June 01, 2014 (Drammen) - Eritreans are grieving the loss of 35-year-old
Daniel Abraham Hagos in Drammen, Norway.
Local Eritreans said they are deeply shocked and saddened by his death, as
they gathered on Thursday and Friday to mourn the loss of Daniel, whose body
was found in a river on Monday, May 26, 2014.
Daniel's close friends invited local Eritreans to a gathering at the Safari
Restaurant in Drammen to remember and mourn their lost companion. His
friends are calling for donations to collect enough funds to return Daniel's
body home to his family in Eritrea.
After initial results from an autopsy at the forensic pathology department
of the University Hospital of Oslo, it was confirmed that the body
discovered by a passerby belongs to Daniel Abraham Hagos. The Eritrean went
missing and was seen last alive on April 25 at his residence in the small
town of Svelvik in the southeast of Norway.
The cause of his death is still under investigation, but people who knew
Daniel said that he had already tried to kill himself twice before. He went
through a state of low mood and depression after arriving in Europe.
Daniel came via Lampedusa to Europe and as so many other Eritreans went
through unbelievable hardship and difficult times - his sister lost her life
in Lampedusa trying to reach Europe. He struggled to return to normal life
in Norway and felt increasingly purposeless being in this world, friends
say.
To support Daniel's friends to return his body to his family in Eritrea, we
would like to call for your donations and thank you for your support.
