College of Marine Science and Technology graduates a total of 122
students with Bachelors degree and diploma
Massawa, 07 June 2014 -- The College of Marine Science and Technology in
the port city of Massawa graduated a total of 122 students with
Bachelors degree and diploma yesterday.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony in which Senior government
officials, parents and invited guests took part, Mr. Tewolde Kelati,
Minister of Marine Resources, pointed out that the government's
initiative of promoting educational outreach has borne commendable
outcome as regards national development and furthering accessibility of
technological facilities. He further called on the graduates to
withstand psychological war through the knowledge and enlightenment they
have acquired, and thereby enhance role in national development as well
as ensuring societal welfare.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zekeria Abdulkerim, Dean of the
College, stated that the students graduated in Fishery Resource, Sea
Water Farming, Biotechnology and Marine Engineering, and that the number
of those who earned Bachelors degree stands at 74. He went on to
indicate that the batch includes 48 diploma graduates and females
comprising 30% of the population, and that the College has currently
enrolled more than 430 students.
Accordingly, a new digital library has fostered independence in research
activities of the College.
A representative of the graduates asserted the batch's readiness to step
up participation in the implementation of national development programs.
The college has graduated a total of 1024 students with Bachelors degree
and diploma for the seventh time including the current batch.
