Ms. Christine N. Umutoni, UN Resident Coordinator, noted that over a
million Rwanda citizens lost their lives during the tragic genocide. She
also indicated that the international community is working actively to
bring to justice the perpetrators of the sad act of crime. Moreover, Ms.
Christine expressed appreciation for the close cooperation that the
Eritrean government and the PFDJ demonstrated in organizing the
commemorative event.
Similarly, the Chairperson of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW),
Ms. Leul Gebreab, delivered a speech stressing the need for the
international community to exert the necessary efforts towards averting a
repetition of such tragedy anywhere in our planet.
