The Eritrean struggle for independence was possible only because of
commitment and attentive leadership, from time to time, by many courageous
leaders, which were influential with unwavering stands, however the Eritrean
oppositions are the opposite.
At this time, nobody knows the numbers of oppositions are out there in the
market; nevertheless they still want to be called "opposition" just because
they think opposite. Their credibility is lost if they had any? And their
continuity as oppositions with legitimate headship seems to be unfeasibly.
Thus far, in their history of opposing, they have been lead by "celebrity
like" individuals. They never had a leader to lead or follow, as a result
they are failing and in disarray. Those who had political backgrounds such
as Adhamom, Mesfin, WediHaregot, Menkorios, Hibret, etc they set them to be
on fire, thought them how to oppose and eventually abandoned them to moved
on their lives. Now their continuity as cheerleading oppositions depends on
celebrities and corrupted wealthy individuals, which are unable to live in
Eritrea doing corrupted businesses.
It is fair to say that there are no Eritrean oppositions but thinking
opposites. When well-liked singers decided to defect they became their
mouthpiece figureheads. They take them to tour and teach democracy when in
fact their talent is nothing but lyric; when a popular hotel owner and
former government supporter gets mad at the government for not allowed to do
corrupted business he leaves the country and becomes their figurehead. Mr.
Vacaro appears to be vindictive individual. He said he will do whatever it
takes to kill the head of State of Eritrea. On his recent video released on
assena.com he said "if President of Eritrea does not leave power in peace
and in short time he has a plan to kill him like mafia style". He said he
wouldn't do it in person but he knows people who can do the job. He said
from his 40 years experience in Italy he knows how the mafia works and will
make it happen just like the mafia. These are his exact words from his
seminar in Frankfurt Germany. So how do we call the oppositions are
legitimate oppositions without having politically matured figureheads? It
is clear that it's Wedi Vacaro's turn now to gossip, but he will soon pass
the torch of hate to Amanuel, a journalist who cannot control his composure.
Amanuel is a voice of assena and the other face of the same coin. He is a
one-man show at his radio station. Whenever his tongue and lips make move
they spill words which he cannot control. As journalist his mandate should
have been journalism only; however he goes above and beyond and prescribes
coup and murder to the head State of Eritrea, just like his icon Wedi
Vacaro. The upcoming Amanuel's tour around the continent reveals
oppositions lack leadership and credibility. Having said that, Amanuel too
will come and go like the other actors, on the other hand the supporters
don't seem to be bothered to continue cheerleading until another celebrity
comes and replaces Amanuel.
