Cornerstone laid for Science College at Eritrean Institute of Technology
Asmara, 12 September 2014 - The cornerstone for the first phase construction
of a Science College at the Eritrean Institute of Technology at over USD 33
million was laid last Tuesday in line with the cooperation agreement
concluded between the Governments of Eritrea and the People's Republic of
China.
Present on the occasion were senior Government and PFDJ officials. Speakinig
on the occasion, Mr. Semere Russom, Minister of Education, said that the
construction of the College would make due contribution in the
teaching-learning process, besides attesting to the growing ties between
Eritrea and the PRC.
Likewise, Prof. Tesfamichael Haile, Vice President of Academic Affairs of
the Institute, indicated that the undertaking would ease existing
constraints.
In the same vein, Ambassador N. Xiang of the PRC to Eritrea lauded Eritrea's
achievements in the education sector, and that he would exert more effort to
enhance China's development cooperation with Eritrea.
Also speaking at the cornerstone laying ceremony, Mr. Zhao Zhongning, Vice
President of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, stated that the
project would contribute to the exchange of experience between Eritrean and
Chinese experts.
