In its 4th day the Cycling Tour for Truth, Peace, Justice and Eritrea battled steep slopes on its 165 km ride to Kassel from Hanover. However, to these experienced bikers, tested by the steep slopes of nefasit-shegrini on the Massawa-Asmara road and Libi Tigray on the Keren-Asmara road, the ride, though challenging, was manageable. They handled it well and have successfully arrived in Kassel to the warm welcome of the Eritrean community in the city.

The Tour Cyclists are calling for an end to Ethiopian illegal occupation of sovereign Eritrean territory as well as an end to the USA led sanctions that were imposed on Eritrea in the name of the UN Security Council Resolutions 1907 (2009) and 2023 (2011). These sanctions were based on fabricated charges orchestrated by Eritrea’s archenemy, Ethiopia and its western enablers. There was no and there still is no “intelligence, real or fabricated”, that links Eritrea to any form of extremism in the Horn of Africa.

Leaked U.S. diplomatic cables provide ample proof that the 2009 and 2011 sanctions were both incubated in the U.S. UN Mission in New York and hatched in Ethiopia. Eritrea was only sanctioned because it was not willing to go along with reckless US policy that has destroyed Somalia as a nation.
