Bisha, Harena resources increased – Nevsun
3RD FEBRUARY 2015
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The measured and indicated resources of TSX-listed Nevsun’s Bisha and Harena deposits, in Eritrea, have increased to 1.2-billion pounds of copper, 3.4-billion pounds of zinc, 750 000 oz of gold and 42-million ounces of silver, following the completion of a 2014 drilling programme.
The Bisha primary indicated resource grew by 900 000 t and the primary inferred resource by 600 000 t. This primary zone growth added indicated resources of 83-million pounds of zinc and 40-million pounds of copper and inferred resources of 96-million pounds of zinc and 21-million pounds of copper.
Nevsun pointed out that, of greater significance, had been the “exceptional” growth at the Harena primary deposit.
The Harena openpit indicated resource grew by 1.4-million tonnes, adding 113-million pounds of zinc and 32-million pounds of copper, while the primary inferred resource increased by 6.1-million tonnes for an additional 498-million pounds of zinc and 156-million pounds of copper.
“As exploration continues at Harena, excellent potential remains for additional resource expansion not only at Harena, but also at our three other deposits within the Bisha volcanogenic massive sulphide district.
“The same methodology that was applied to Harena is now being applied to the Bisha deposit as we further explore Bisha along strike and at depth. During [this year], we will begin the scoping of underground mining at Bisha and Harena,” Nevsun CEO Cliff Davis said.
