The Eritrean American Community in Colorado came together to celebrate
International Women’s Day and the 35th Anniversary of the National Union of
Eritrean Women (NUEW).
The women of Eritrea have been key players in the nation building of their
beloved country, Eritrea, and within the diaspora community.
This day came with outstanding presentations through different activities.
Activities included exhibits, symposium, youth cultural show, “Taste of
Eritrea”, and finally, the legendary performance of Wedi Tekul band.
What made this especially was the ttendance of the “Friends of Eritrea”
from various regions including Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan,
Jordan, Palestine, and Tunisia & American.
For the first time, the Mayor of Denver sent a representative to address
the Eritreans living in Denver. Other officials included members from the
City of Aurora were represent, too.
This night was organized and executed with the tremendous efforts of the
NUEW with support of other civic organizations within the local Council of
Eritrean American in Colorado.
