NUEW striving to ensure equitable women participation in all domains
Asmara, 28 February 2015 – The Chairperson of the National Union of
Eritrean Women (NUEW), Ms. Tekha Tesfamichael, indicated that the Union is
exerting persistent endeavors towards ensuring Eritrean women’s equitable
participation in the ongoing national development programs in the Homeland.
She made the statement at a meeting she conducted in Frankfurt city with
members of the union in Germany, and that the NUEW is working on priority basis
with a view to expanding and broadening its organizational capacity and
raising all-round member’s awareness.
The Chairperson also underlined the need for popularizing and bequeathing
to the young generation the pivotal role Eritrean Women’s played in the
days of armed struggle for independence, besides nurturing youth members.
Ms. Tekha further gave briefings focusing on the 7th Congress of the
Union and its outcome, as well as the accomplishments of the NUEW branches
inside the country and aboard.
The participants of the meeting voiced readiness to sustain participation
for the success of the set goals of the Union.
