Asmara, 28 March 2015 – The 6th Festival of Higher Education Institutions opened yesterday at Asmara College of Health Science.
The opening ceremony witnessed a parade of students of all higher education institutions and Asmara Commerce School starting from Bahti Meskerem Square to Asmara University.
Speaking at the opening ceremony in which senior Government and PFDJ officials, heads of national associations and National Commission for Higher Education and thousands of students took part, Prof. Berhane Girmai, Dean of Asmara College of Health Science, indicated that the event is aimed at putting in place the groundwork for students to exchange experience and promote solidarity among them.
Likewise, Mensura Ismael, head of the NUEYS branch in Sawa region, said that Youths Week and Festival events are among the Union’s major activities, and that the current Festival represents a concluding phase of similar activities undertaken in all higher education institutions as of last December.
The Festival would continue till March 29 within the premises of Asmara University involving sports competitions, education-related contests, cultural performances and pictorial exhibition, among others.
