A Fontana family broke into shrieks and tears Thursday when they
learned Isaac Amanios was among the victims in the rampage at the
Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.

The 60-year-old environmental health inspector, who also used the name
Isaac Gebreslassie, was a cousin of New York Giants safety Nat Berhe.

A woman who identified herself as Amanios’ sister-in-law declined to
talk during a brief telephone interview. At the time, the family,
including Amanios’ wife, were waiting for official word on Amanios’
death.

“We’re not in any shape,” she said. “When I came, they were crying.
People are coming and crying.”

As she spoke, sudden shrieks and painful shouts could be heard in the
background.

Berhe named his cousin as one of the victims in a tweet Thursday
afternoon, after the coroner had released the names.

“...He was a great human being. Thoughts and prayers are with my
family back in CA,” he tweeted.

Berhe, a San Bernardino native, played at Colton High School before
going on to play at San Diego State.

“The true terror is that this keeps happening. I still can’t believe
it. Take a moment to think of the families hurting right now,” Berhe
tweeted on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, he shared on Twitter that his parents worked near the
Inland Regional Center, the scene of the mass shooting.

In an image he tweeted out, Berhe said he was “speechless” as he noted
the proximity of his parent’s office, on the 1800 block of Business
Center Drive, to the shooting.

He also wrote earlier, “Send a prayer up for my hometown
#SanBernardino ... Hurts my heart.”
