Massawa, 06 June 2016- The College of Marine Science and Technology graduated 171 students with degree and diploma in different fields including Marine Resources, Marine Farming, Marine Engineering as well as Bio-Technology. Among the graduates 60 are female students. The graduation took place on 03 June in the port city of Massawa.
In a speech he delivered during the graduation ceremony, Mr. Tewolde Qelati, the Minster of Fisheries, pointed out that the government is making huge investment on education to ensure equitable educational opportunity to all citizens. He also called on the graduates to make good use of the current technological advancements and live up to the people’s expectations.
Dean of the College, Dr. Zekaria Abdelkerim underscored that the college has registered a commendable outcome with regards promoting higher education in terms of quality and quantity. He also indicated that the number of students’ enrolments has significantly increased in the past 10 years. He further called on the graduates to practically demonstrate their knowledge in the nation building process.
The representative of the graduates expressed gratitude for the opportunity they were provided and reiterated readiness to mount contribution in the nation building endeavors.
According to documents from the college, around 1500 students have so far graduated from the College of Marine Science and Technology.
