Burkina Faso ranks second in Africa and 29th in the world thanks to the
attractiveness of its mining industry, officials of its Mining Ministry
informed APA.The latest annual report by the Fraser Institute (Canada) on
mining companies claimed that the environment for mining in Africa had
improved slightly in 2015, especially with a rise in its magnet pull as a
foreign investment haven.

In Africa, in terms of the overall attractiveness and based on the mineral
potential, Morocco becomes the leading African nation (24th worldwide),
followed by Burkina Faso (29th) and Ghana (31st).

Guinea and Kenya are the lowest ranking countries.

The ten most attractive African countries in the world rankings are as
follows: Morocco (24th), Burkina Faso (29th), Ghana (31st), Namibia (33rd),
Botswana (39th), Eritrea (41st), Cote d’Ivoire (42nd), Ethiopia (51st),
Madagascar (54th) and the DR Congo (60th).

The Fraser Institute publishes this world rankings each year, based on the
attractiveness of the mining sectors in countries.

To put together the rankings for 2015, the institute analyzes 15 factors
influencing companies’ decision to invest in a given country.

Among these criteria are the regulations put in place by governments, the
legal system, the taxation regime, infrastructure, political stability and
labour laws.
