Bisha, Eritrea: 30.8m (true width) grading 1.97% Cu, 9.13% Zn, 0.36g/t Au and 32g/t Ag from 367m depth (hole MX-068)
Nevsun Resources’ Asheli prospect at the Bisha copper-zinc mine in Eritrea is coming along nicely judging from the latest drill results.

Following its discovery just over a year ago, the company has encountered new massive sulphides and extended the known mineralisation further.
The highlight of this drilling was a 30.8m (true width) intersection that came with an average grade of 1.97% Cu, 9.13% Zn, 0.36g/t Au and 32g/t Ag from 367m depth. Within this was a 14m (true width) intercept grading 2.76% Cu, 11.04% Zn, 0.43g/t Au and 43g/t Ag from 373.5m.
The hit was significant as it came from a projected down plunge extension of the mineralisation, some 100m below the known deposit.
“With over 4km of untested strike length with similar geology the potential for further discoveries on the Asheli trend looks very promising,” Nevsun CEO Cliff Davis said.
With only one mine to its name, which it only owns 60% of and produced 60,000 tonnes of copper late year, the extension of Bisha is all-important for Nevsun. The reserves currently stretch to nine years of mine life.
