Asmara, 23 May 2016- The Northern Red Sea, the Southern and Anseba regions celebrated the Silver Jubilee Independence Day at regional levels under the theme “Half Century of Resilience and Development”.
The Independence Day celebration that was conducted at Ginda on 22 May at regional level, the Chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Siraj Haji pointed out that the Independence Day celebration is an occasion in which the Eritrean people renew their pledges to safeguard the sovereignty of the country and build a prosperous nation.
The Administrator of the region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis on her part underlined that a concrete foundation has been put in place in terms of economic and infrastructure development in the past 25 years of Independence observed against the backdrop of the heavy price paid. She also called on the residents of the region to reinforce participation for the success of the charted out development programs in the region.
The administrator of the Ginda sub-zone, Mr. Omar Haj said that the Independence Day anniversary is being observed at the time strong effort is being exerted to realize economic development aimed at ensuring food security.
The celebration was highlighted with cultural shows and a trip by the steam locomotive.
At the Independence Day celebration conducted in Dekemhare on 22 May at regional level the Chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Southern region, Mr. Abraham Yohannes indicated that strong efforts have been exerted to colorfully celebrate the occasion and he commended the participation of the public and owners of institutions in organizing the event.
The Administrator of the region, Mr. Efrem Gebrekrstos, expressed that the economic, infrastructure and social developments achieved in the past 25 years of independence attest to the factual image and staunch resistance of the Eritrean people. He also called on the residents to reinforce participation in the endeavors to realize the set out development programs aimed at ensuring food security.
The Secretary of the PFDJ, Mr. Alamin Mohammed Seid officially opened the exhibition depicting the culture, economic development and historical heritages in the region.
Carnival portraying the introduction of modern farming and industrial development was also staged.
Likewise, at the celebration conducted in the Keren stadium at regional level, the Administrator of the Anseba region, Mr. Ali Mahmud pointed out that despite all the external conspiracies visible achievements have been registered in the past 25 years of independence in terms of ensuring social justice and building strong economic and social infrastructure based on the principles of self-reliance.
A carnival show in which line ministries, public institutions and administrations participated was also staged.
The occasion was highlighted with cultural shows and different artistic activities.
Barentu, 23 May 2016- The Silver Jubilee Independence Day Anniversary was colorfully celebrated in the Gash-Barka region on May 20 in the town of Barentu at a regional level.
Senior government officials and thousands of the residents of the region took part in the celebration.
The celebration was highlighted by camel race, marching band, military parade, cultural and artistic shows as well as children’s performances.
In a speech he delivered during the event, Mr. Omer Mohammed, work manager of the region, pointed out that the residents of the region have accorded warm welcome to the Independence Torch during its arrival in the region. He also expressed appreciation for the efforts the residents conducted to enthusiastically mark the special event.
The work manager also indicated that in the past 25 years of independence the Eritrean people have registered tremendous economic developments despite the different enemy conspiracies.
The Chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee, Mr. Bereket Tekeste underlined that the Independence Day has a great value in the hearts of the Eritrean people and that the special day also reminds every citizen to renew the pledge to the martyrs who paid their lives for the Eritrean people to live in peace, harmony and prosperity.
In the same vein, a carnival show in continuation with the Silver Jubilee Independence Day anniversary was staged in Barentu on 20 May in which the 11 sub-zones participated.
The carnival showcased the development programs implemented in the region in the past 25 years of independence and the beauty and diversity as well as the multi cultures of the Gash Barka region.
The coordinating committee of the program indicated that the carnival show was prepared by the internal capacity of the sub zones in the region.
The carnival show has received broad admiration from the residents of the Barentu town.
