He made the remark speaking at the Chinese Embassy in Asmara during a reception held on September 30 to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China
Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, Government Ministers, PFDJ officials, diplomatic envoys and Chinese companies and institutions attended the reception.
He also expressed his sincere hope for the continued strengthening of Eritrea-China bilateral relations.
Qiu Xuejun highlighted that relations between China and Eritrea represent an important part of China’s relations with Africa and that diplomatic relations between both countries date back to May 24, 1993, when the State of Eritrea was founded.
The Ambassador emphasized that Eritrea’s bilateral relations with China have been deepening and developing smoothly since Eritrea’s founding, no matter how the international situations changed.
He also said that China is currently Eritrea’s largest trading partner and that great achievements have been made in cooperation between the two countries in fields of infrastructure, agriculture, mining, culture and education, health care and people to people exchanges.
Eritrea’s accomplishment during the 25 years of resilient development by pressing forward to convert its rich resources into greater gains in its economic and social development is a remarkable achievement, the diplomat said.
Ambassador Qju Xuejun: “The fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Eritrea has brought tangible benefits to our two peoples. I believe that China and Eritrea will work concertedly and continuously to deepen the mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in various fields, develop jointly, bring greater benefits to the peoples of China and Eritrea, and make positive contributions to regional and world peace and development.”
