UIC urges Somali MPs to carry guns

The Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) spokesman Sheikh Abdi Rahim Isse Addow
advises parliament members to carry guns for safety reasons.
According to Press TV correspondent, the spokesman called on all the 550
lawmakers to carry guns in order to protect themselves against enemies.
"Many important people have been gunned down by enemies who don't want
Somalia to have a functional government and be a powerful Islamic state,"
Sheikh Abdi Rahim Isse Addow said.
A "member of Parliament was gunned down this week and we don't want to lose
other important ones," he added.
"If you all have weapons, the enemy will not dare to try to kill you," he
explained.
Earlier, the Union of Islamic Courts, which controls vast sways of Somalia,
said it has launched a crackdown on armed bandits and insurgents in Somalia.
