Saudi Arabia, Eritrea, Sudan release tens of Yemeni fishermen
[27 March 2009]
HODIADHA, March 27 (Saba) - Tens of Yemeni fishermen on their boats arrived
in Hodeidah, after being kept for months in the custody of the Saudi,
Eritrean and Sudanese security authorities.
A source at the Coastguard Authority at Red Sea Sector said that ten
fishermen on two boats, one has been detained by Eritrean authorities since
last August and the second held in a Sudanese island last February, have set
free, assuring that they have arrived at the fishing port of Hodeidah
governorate.
Meanwhile, the Saudi authorities have released 14 Yemeni fishermen, who have
been captured last week in "al-Washkah" Island after strong wind swept away
their boat into the Saudi territorial waters, the source said.
He added the Saudi authorities have expelled the fishermen after completing
the investigation procedures, while it kept the boat at Fursan Island.
