US sanctions resolution would only reinforce the Eritrean people's mekete,
Say PFDJ members in Central region
Asmara, 6 January 2010 - Members of the PFDJ branch in the Central region
stated in a meeting they conducted that the unjustifiable and shameful US
sanctions resolution adopted in the name of the Security Council would only
reinforce the Eritrean people's mekete, besides providing added impetus to
the national development drive.
Speaking at the meeting, the Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, Mr.
Hagos Gebrehiwet, explained that the extensive invasions targeting the
nation's sovereignty and the subsequent all-round acts of conspiracy along
with psychological warfare have been foiled thanks to the firm unity and
steadfastness of the Eritrean people. Stating that the nation is marching to
a promising future, he outlined the Front's action plan for 2010.
Mr. Hagos went on to say that as the nation is progressing at an accelerated
pace through rebuffing all acts of enemy hostility, mounting external
conspiracy is equally being weaved at global level. The unjust and illegal
US sanctions resolution is an integral part of the overt and covert acts of
conspiracy and hostility waged against the Eritrean people, he elaborated.
In this respect, the senior PFDJ Official asserted that such a move would be
foiled through strong national unity.
The Chairman of the Front in the region, Mr. Yusuf Saik, on his part
reminded the participants to conduct extensive discussion on pertaining
national issues and put forth significant views. He further outlined the
major tasks undertaken in 2009 as regards organizing and streamlining PFDJ
members, as well as supporting families of fallen heroes and the like.
Likewise, the regional Administrator, Mr. Tewolde Kelati, noted that
information database system has been introduced to process accurate
information about the number of residents in the Central region and the
provision of social service. He also highlighted the significant role of
cadres in maintaining the sanitation and security of the capital.
Also in reports they presented, the heads of political and organizational
affairs of the Front in the region, Mr. Michael Embaye and Mr. Khalifa
Nurhusein, respectively indicated that a number of meetings were organized
and political training programs given to the general public and employees.
Various tasks, including clearing list of members, organizing new members
and introducing lean work methodology were carried out, they elaborated.
Noting that a number of seminars were given to high school students with a
view to raising their awareness regarding the objective situation in the
country and its history, Mr. Khalifa highlighted the need for registering
still more gratifying accomplishments in all organizational activities
through introducing new mode of operation in 2010.
