Spokesman of Foreign Ministry: Withdrawal of American Company to its
Deposits will not Affect Asian Companies Dealing with Sudan
Khartoum, Jan. 6 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has belittled
the impacts of a reported plan of an American company to withdraw its
deposits from Asian companies that are dealing with Sudan. In a press
statement Wednesday, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Muawiya Osman Khalid, stated that like such a step will not have effect
on the Asian investments in Sudan.
He said that several American companies that have deposits with
international companies dealing with Sudan have rejected the call on
them to take their investments and deposits out of Sudan. Khalid said
that the company which withdrew its deposits was mostly suffering from
financial problems rather than attempting to establish a political
position. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman refuted the false
reports on deterioration in the Sudanese - Eritrean relations, stressing
that the relations between Sudan and Eritrea are firm and deeply rooted.
He said that wide strides have been made for consolidating the relations
between Khartoum and Asmara and realizing the mutual interests of the
two nations. Khalid emphasized that the visits being exchanged by
Sudanese and Eritrean officials are providing a strong boost to the
bilateral relations, adding that the coming period will witness more
openness in the relations between khartoum and Asmaar at all axes. MO/MO
