The Prevailing Problems In Different Parts Of The World, Especially The Horn
Of Africa Emanate From The Failed US Policies: President Isaias
Asmara, 12 January 2010 - In an interview he conducted today with Aljazeera
Television here in the capital, President Isaias Afwerki said that the
prevailing problems in different parts of the world, especially the Horn of
Africa emanate from the failed, hegemonic and vicious US policies.
The President pointed out that the existing problems in Iraq, Afghanistan,
Sudan, Somalia and others are instigated by the US Administration through
fabricating various baseless ploys with a view to facilitating Washington's
intervention. In this respect, he elucidated that the Eritrean-Ethiopian
border issue and the recently concocted non-existing problem between Eritrea
and Djibouti are but the continuation of such a gimmick.
President Isaias further indicated that the African Union, in total
disregard of the vision of the African peoples, has become a mere tool and
servant of the US Administration and special interest groups in the same
manner as the United Nations itself, thus providing cover to their unjust
and illegal resolutions. In the process, the African continent not only
lacked a dynamic organization that safeguards its interests over the past 40
years but also fell victim to unjust
resolutihttp://www.shabait.com/images/stories/jan12-president-int.jpgons and
acts of adventurism on the part of external forces through the
instrumentality of its own organization, he elaborated. President Isaias
went on to say that in view of the growing public awareness at present, the
situation would not continue like this.
He further noted that the sanctions resolution against Eritrea adopted in
the name of the Security Council is both illegal and unfounded that was
masterminded by the Washington Administration, and as such constitutes an
integral part of the conspiracies weaved. Stating that Eritrea has evidences
attesting to this very fact, the President said that Uganda was simply
chosen as a tool, for it has no role or stance as regards regional issues.
In this connection, he expressed conviction that the Eritrean people would
rebuff and foil as ever the vicious resolution.
President Isaias underscored that there exists no border problem between
Eritrea and Djibouti, and that allegations claiming there exists such a
problem is but an invention on the part of the United States designed to
ensure its military presence in Djibouti. "We are well aware of the whole
affair and the acts of complication resorted to; and we don't blame the
Djiboutian brothers for the ensuing developments," he elaborated.
Replying to a question why Eritrea became the first country to officially
host a visit by the Sudanese President following the travel ban against him,
President Isaias pointed out that Eritrea in principle rejects the
indictment as it lacks concrete evidence and would further complicate the
Sudan's problem. Moreover, in view of the fact that internationalization of
matters would pave the way for external intervention besides complicating
the issue, the Sudanese issue should be left to the nationals of that
country, just like that of the Somali issue, he added.
Highlighting that the historical and people-based relations between Eritrea
and Yemen would not be undermined by futile machinations on the part of the
CIA, the President dismissed as baseless allegation claiming that Eritrea is
serving as conduit for Iranian assistance to Houthi groups fighting against
the Yemeni government. Such a fabricated conspiracy designed to foment
conflict among nations is but an outcome of the failed policies and
frustration of the US Administration, President Isaias elaborated.
