- Extensive seminars were conducted today in the Central region regarding
the objective situation in the country and the action program for 2010.
Members of the PFDJ Executive Council headed the seminar in which they
pointed out that the role and contribution of all citizens is decisive in
rebuffing all acts of enemy conspiracy and hostility. In addition, they
emphasized the effective implementation of the envisaged development
programs.
The senior PFDJ officials further explained that the illegal US sanctions
resolution adopted in the name of the Security Council would only reinforce
the Eritrean people's resistance and unity, besides providing impetus to
the national development drive. Noting that the latest illegal resolution
is a hostile acts resorted to for the second time in 60 years on the part of
Washington, they indicated that consecutive US administrations after World
War II pursued a policy of hegemony and exploitation in the Horn region
through servant regimes in Ethiopia with adverse effect not only on the
Eritrean people but also other peoples in the region, including Ethiopians.
In this respect, the senior PFDJ officials underlined the need for fostering
united struggle on the part of the peoples in the region in rebuffing such
wicked designs.
As part of the nationwide Meket, a number of programs have been mapped out
on the political, economic and diplomatic fronts toward foiling the unjust
sanctions move, they elaborated. To this end, the PFDJ officials called on
nationals at home and abroad, government and Front institutions,
organizations, national associations and others to enhance their
contribution. They went on to say that concerted action would be mounted
towards improving the people's standard of living, as part of the resistance
efforts.
The participants of the seminars expressed determination to fulfill what is
expected of them towards ensuring the success of the integrated national
action plan.
Reports indicated that similar meeting would be conducted in all the
administrative regions.
