Afwerki told Sudan TV that the Qatari initiative is the only way out of
internationalization on one hand, and allowing Sudanese a chance to resolve
their problems themselves, on the other. "There is no alternative for
Sudanese-Sudanese solutions," he argued, stating that there might be some
difficulties and complications to resolving Darfur problem, but Sudanese
have overcome them to avert internationalization of the problem or seeking
solution by the intervention by Africa, or the United Nations or external
forces. "We see in the Qatari initiative the way out," Afwerki reiterated.
The Eritrean President described Sudanese –Eritrean relations as a strategic
and will not be affected by passing political positions, stating his
country's rejection of the International Criminal Court's warrant for
President Omar Al-Bashir as unshakable principle.
