Penn State University President Graham Spanier announced that Charles
Cantalupo of Penn State Schuylkill has been given the special title of
Distinguished Professor. Cantalupo received the award on the basis of his
outstanding teaching, research and service. In his 30th year at Penn State,
he has written books of literary criticism, translations, poetry and a
forthcoming memoir about his work in Africa. Four of his books focus
particularly on the poetry of the Horn of Africa nation, Eritrea. He lives
in Bethlehem with his wife, Barbara Cantalupo, associate professor of
English at Penn State Lehigh Valley, and their four children.
