The liberation of Massawa (Operation Fenkil) February 1990 : The history of
EPLF's small boats and how they crushed the Elephant Ethiopian Navy.
Ethiopia's Navy from Haileselassie regime until the Derg era was supported
first by the United States and later by the Soviet Union. Overall, the
Ethiopian navy had 35 years of naval experience. Most of the Navy officers
were educated abroad.
Part of this video includes an interview with Captain Tzegaie Mokonnen, a
prisoner of war and the head of the Ethiopia's navy southern division. He
was educated abroad and served the Ethiopian navy for 26 years. He was
captured during the battle for Massawa.
