Twiga to host Eritrea in first 2nd round tie

By Majuto Omary,

The national women soccer team, Twiga Stars, will play Eritrea at Uhuru
Stadium on May 22, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) said
yesterday.Twiga Stars, who set sights on the African Women's
Championship finals, progressed after bundling out Ethiopia on 4-2
aggregate.

After shattering Ethiopia's dreams, the TFF dissolved Twiga Stars Camp
awaiting release of fixtures by the African soccer governing body,
CAF.As brave Twiga Stars look set to resume training, head coach Charles
Mkwassa ponders to bolster the squad with young players.

Twiga Stars will be hard-pressed to use their home advantage in the
first leg match before facing their foes in Asmara.

Meanwhile, the federation has announced entry fees to be paid by
spectators wishing to watch Saturday's African Nations Championship
(CHAN) qualifier between the national team, Taifa Stars and Somalia at
Uhuru Stadium.

Briefing reporters yesterday, TFF secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela
said the highest fee would be Sh30,000 while the lowest Sh3,0000.He said
they have decided to set low entrance fees to allow many soccer fans to
support the team by paying to watch the game at affordable prices.

According to him, the Sh3,000 and 30,000 fees are for popular and VIP
stands respectively while those wishing to watch from the green section
will pay Sh10,000.

Mwakalebela pointed out that tickets for the main stand will cost
Sh15,000.He urged the fans to turn out in big numbers so as to give the
team maximum support.

"The team is strong and spirit at the camp is ceiling high. We have no
new injuries according to coach report.what is needed is public
support," he said.

Mwakalebela added: "People should show up in big numbers during the
match and cheer the team up." The official named Kirwa Sylvester, John
Ngurure and Range Aden from Kenya as match officials.Speaking to The
Citizen, Taifa Stars goalkeeper Jackson Chove said they were ready to
for the match.

"We've a strong squad and everyone seems confident ahead of the match,"
he said. "We know they'll be more defensive than offensive, so it'll be
easy for us to attack them non-stop," Chove added.
